A Well Known Scene.

Discussion in 'Landscapes and outdoor scenes' started by Hollander, Apr 18, 2024.

  1. Known to many of us - Carr Mill Dam, near St Helens, taken while playing with an ancient Helios 28mm f2.8 lens.

  2. A place definitely worthy of togging. Nice in mono.
  3. A terrific take on it - looks like a shot taken on Ilford mono 35mm!

    Nice.

Soft shades here. I'd have been tempted to miss your point entirely and boost the contrast some more.

I was last there on Boxing Day: time flies.

It's a nice shot - but some scenes deserve colour. And that lovely red brick viaduct does I think.
  6. I like this mono and great composition
  7. I'd like to see in colour too.
  8. Oy and Polly - original colour version here. I still prefer the mono.

    Colour FTW :)
  10. I prefer the colour in this instance.
The old lens is still doing its job well.
Which adapter are you using on the 5d Mk3? I've tried my old manual focus Canon 50mm f1.4 fd on my 5d mk2 and it doesn't work at all can not get it to focus on anything near or far, with the eos to fd adapter.
  11. Thank you, very nice
  12. I'm afraid I prefer the colour version the mono does need more contrast or perhaps a little assault with the burn tool?
  13. like the colour version, both are good though.

    Thanks for the update.

I'm happy with either in this one. But it's nice to have options. :p
