Shocking as it may seem - I'm quite partial to the occasional dram of the good stuff. Got a taste for the Islay single malts butI don;t by any means limit myself to them.

Currently on the go at Oy Towers...

Glenmorangie La Santa - nice sherry cask job

    Talisker - always a favourite

Macallan Gold - really nice easy drinking dram

Aberlour a'bunadh - Awesome whisky! Sneaks up on you this one at 60.7%

    So - what's yer tipple?
  2. I have been dabbling in Jura's non limited editions. Recently went to the Isle Of Lewis and dabbled in the Islands only legal distillery's Single Malt - Abhainn Dearg. Its one of the only (if not the only) whiskies that is distilled and bottled on site and colouring comes from the barrel and not from any "caramel" additives added later in mainland Scotland (apparently a common practice). I like Dearg just because of the ethos.

But most surprisingly (to me) is the sheer quality of Suntory Yamazaki 18 Yr Old - which you can bag from http://www.thewhiskyexchange.com Its pricey, but oh so delicious!

Not a fan of Jura - just tastes like a cheap blend to me

I've been meaning to try the Yamazaki stuff - it's defo on the list!
  4. Like art, I suppose whiskies are subjective. I'm not as keen on their lighter stuff - I enjoy heavily peated stuff. The best of their normal line up is definitely Diurach's Own, closely followed by Elixir.

Re: the Yamazaki - the first I tried was the Suntory 12 yr old - a snip at circa £50. Well worth it.
  5. Bit short at the moment just 2 bottles of Talisker, 1 Bottle of Macallan 10 year old fine oak and a Lt of Glenmorangie 10 Year Old. Talisker is still my all time favourite, Just finished a singletons and it was bloomin awful ,like paint stripper, just had another look in mi cupboards and found a 12 year old Glenlivet and a Jura superstition from xmas presents ,that was a nice find ,Glad you started this thread :):w00t:

That reminds me - kitchen sink u-bend needs cleaning out
  9. I'm partial to a drop of Jack Daniels Gentleman jack or Single Barrel or even Dalwhinnie. tried this on holiday in wales, not to bad Penderyn Welsh single malt.
  10. Pretty much anything from Glendronach, especially the 15 and the cask strength batches, obsessed with it at the moment !

The 15 is quite possibly the best value single malt anywhere at the moment - the page that was online with all the year calculations has mysteriously vanished lol, but here's a brief explanation

The distillery was closed from 1996 until 2001, and that gap of six years forces GlenDronach to use older whisky than necessary, the 15 wont be a 15 until about 2017, at the moment it's around 19y/o and will peak at 21 y/o until returning to a genuine 15 around 17. For about £40 it's unbelievable value, and, it's absolutely fantastic too.

The 12 year old was actually a 21 year old until last year ! I did wonder at the time why it was SO good.
  11. Think I need educating here :)
I am partial to a brandy now and then and really like good Vodka. (I have also been known to try a Vodka or Pernod lime slush on occasion)
    Classy or what?

  14. You're all making me very jealous, I just can't justify the prices of this stuff, so I'll just have to get married, get kids and wait until they can afford me some decent fathers day presents :D
  15. That's why I have so many,I don't buy any myself, its the birthday ,xmas fathers day pressys, that are easy for the daughter ,sons and grandkids, but they know its got to be a good single malt, and I normally give plenty hints which ones :) if it was me paying fer it ,id be on bells and aldi special blended at £7

  17. Lagavulin, Tamnavulin......in my dreams boys...in my dreams!
  18. One of my favorites is Bruichladdich Rocks, I picked one up once as the packaging was enticing, and what a pick it was, its a real tasty single malt ,and tastes nowt like any other ive had ,its from the Island of Islay, and worth a look if its on offer anywhere, and its normally around the £25 mark on offer.
