St Nicholas interior

  1. Just glass and plaques - the builders plus scaffolding were in. 1 & 2 windows are early 13th century, reds and blues amazingly bright. Quite a lot of brasses, which have been moved from the floor to the walls over the centuries. Shame got really poor images, due to reflections from builders spot lights. One was really cool, a Christopher Raittinge, a Hungarian 'doctor', was chief physician for 7 years to the Emperor of Russia, buried here in 1612. Perhaps here on holiday !

  2. A very interesting set, with good history. No3 works very well.
  3. All good to see. First 3 would make a good set of prints presented together on a wall.
  4. Stansgang

    Stansgang Keep it straight!

Love reading stuff like this, they had it rough back then.
  5. tks guys, glad you like the history side :)
  6. Dvorak

    Dvorak The Horizon Police

First two don't quite come off as you hinted: bit bright and not quite doing the glass justice.

The rest: as fascinating as ever, lots of history to explore which I like. Would still like to see the nave even with the scaffolding. Next time perhaps?
  7. You did very well considering the problems. Looking forward to your next visit :)
