Sensor cleaning help!

Discussion in 'Cameras and lenses' started by modelflyer, May 29, 2021.

  1. I bought an APS C sensor cleaning kit for my Nikon D500 but I can’t lock up the mirror as that option in the menu is greyed out and no matter what I try helps,

Any advice is welcome thank you.

Good to see you sir, bad news it's a problem.

    Dr Google says:

"This probably means that your camera thinks the battery is < 60% charged. Suggest you run your battery down to about 10% and then fully charge it and re-try. If that doesn't work: try another battery, try resetting your camera default"

    OR

"I'm using a D800E and a D810. On these cameras there is a bit of a quirk in getting the mirror raised. I scrounged this tip from the web. If your shutter button is programmed to 'record movies' in movie mode, it needs to be reset to 'take pictures' in custom settings to permit the raise mirror option. Custom setting g4 should be set to "take pictures". Hope this helps."

    Good luck.
  5. Thank you, I will try that.
  6. Thanks everyone I have managed to do it. All I did was turn on the camera again and it worked.
