Does anyone use LR add-ons?

Discussion in 'General chit-chat' started by Zooey, Jan 15, 2020.

  1. I was wondering if anyone wanted to share LR plugins that they use and like. I do mean plugins rather than presets. I have a handful which I've been using for a couple of weeks now. PhotoSafe is good if you sometimes clear out older images, but don't want to delete anything by mistake. I don't do that, but protect everything just in case http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/photosafe

The metadata wrangler has been useful so I can see what I want and in which order. It saves changing from one metadata set to another, or scrolling up and down. Now I have my own http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/metadata-presets

This one for exporting images has been great. I can include or exclude exactly what metadata I want. When I used Bridge I found metadata I deleted say... for here or my web site, would appear gone, but would mysteriously resurrect itself. Certainly I would have to manually delete it (again) from my web site. The metadata wrangler http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/metadata-wrangler

I also found another one to reveal the focus point. Could be very useful when culling lots of bug images in the summer http://www.lightroomfocuspointsplugin.com/

I use a few add ons: they are okay

Some useful metadata comes from the camera's exif and stays with the image throughout. But I keep my added metadata totally apart from any proprietary systems which can and do change. I use folders and perhaps a text file with essential info which I curate well away from Adobe. As a double check, things are filed on Smugmug in a different way so you can cross-reference in the infrequent event me needing something very specific from the last.

Images I take usually have my name on, generated in-camera. I have a Photoshop action to remove that and replace it with a copyright notice for my employer if the image is used for work purposes.
