Not sure here - I applaud the angle and the shapes. Selective colour to highlight especially reds has fallen from fashion a little in recent years but there's no reason why we can't deploy it from time to time. I think it works and it's certainly an inventive idea. I've not hear the term 'permanent way' for years - thanks for reminding me! (You've left in some of the yellows and oranges of the lichen as well).
Hmmm... looks like you've used some sort of auto filter thing for the conversion. Bits of orange and yellow leaking about. Tidy those up and it's an interesting shot.
