Wow! What a fab 4 days. Togged lots slept little! Some of my faves. Full gallery on BookFace here. Thursday - a wierd mix. A jazz interpretation of Holst's "The Planets" - it worked! 1. 2. 3. Without a doubt the best Trombone player I've heard. And I've heard a few! Friday - Salena Jones and her Quintet. 89 years old and sounding fantastic. 4. 5. 6. Saturday - Alan Barnes +11 7. 8. 9. Sunday - The Louis Dowdeswell Big Band 10. 11. 12. 13. 14.
What a great set - the variety of mono, colour and angles adds to the feel of the concert(s) All good, especially the last one
Crisp, clear and full of the right mood, conjuring up those clubs of old. ISO managed superbly well: no issues to report. Wonderful to see and I am sure to hear. I'm not a jazz connoisseur although the Planets gig would've been of interest.
I wont pick a fave all exceptional, good to see its well attended but it is a great event.Big thumbs up to you and of course Ian the organiser.
Number 12 is exceptional but most of these are quite superb anyway. (As usual) Jazz in the key of G has some interesting chord variations in there!
