Always pleased to find people with similar interests in my locale.
I have lived in Wigan for 10 years or so, but only recently become fanatical about photography after buying a D70.
My ulterior motive for joining forum (apart from obviously joining in) is to recruit new members for Wigan Photographic Society. The club desperately needs new blood and new talent and somebody told me that this was the place to look.
So if you fancy meeting once a week and showing your work once a month (and to have your favourite work torn to pieces (metaphorically of course)...just joking!) then come along.
Check out our website (not as good as this one !!)

Welcome to the forum Adrian.
I'd love to come along to your club - fancy chipping in on the petrol money ;) :D
Joking aside, I've been tempted to join my local photography club, but haven't really got around to it. Maybe you could describe what a typical meeting would be like and you might get some interested people. I'd be interested to know how these things work
Make sure you stick around though, and I'm sure nobody'd mind your advertising if you put in a good word for this site to your current members. Maybe Oy (the owner & admin) could set up a small sub-forum for you to post info about your club and discuss things online?
Hi Adrian and welcome to WDP.
By all means plug WPS here - as long as that works both ways! I'll be handing out WDP leaflets when I come to your meeting :)
We've got a couple fo D70 users here - me too until recently when I upgraded to the D200. I like the bird shots you've put in the gallery - what lense are you using for those?
Looking forward to more contribution from you here too!

Welcome ... My petrol costs would be slightly higher to attend than most of this forum user's
:D ;)

If you are and it's the same Mr Rimmer who won it i haven't seen him for a long time could you give him my regards at your next meeting please....

The Mr.Rimmer is a 'Wigan 10' member which is a breakaway club, but I know the shot you mean.
I have the sigma 150-400mm (good in sunlight) bird lens, tamron 18-300(every day lens) and a nikon 60mm for macro shots plus an assortment of other not so good stuff.
I'll put a link to this forum from our gallery, but some of our members are still technophobes.
