Well, that's what it felt like. I think there must have been about 8 inches of undisturbed snow up on the hills in places.
The first that I've downloaded and quite like. I'm always tempted to go shooting straight into the sun - I guess a little lens flare is expected :)

Okay, I've really got to go and eat some lunch
Still, I've resized a couple more so thought I may as well slap them up here :)
One or two more that I might post after some more drastic editing
Another maybe for the village plan

A wall (what more can I say?)

A rather striking tree

A bull rush - I love the look of these things

The following two don't do the scene much justice. I stood there with my jaw dropped to my toes for a while, then tried to get some shots - even lying on the snow covered ground at one point  I got the sense of being transported into a kid's drama like Narnia or something - where an Ice queen had taken over :) I may re-post these later with a bit of blue taken out - we'll see

I don't mind the lens flare around the sun - it's the green dot in the bottom left that I'm annoyed with. I don't know if lenses have a 'signature' flare, but I always seem to get a spot there no matter how clean the lens is.
Still, I'll have a go at cloning it out when I've eaten :)

I always look at the pics, then read the post, and my first thought was Narnia too!

Well if Aslan had walked out of the bushes, I think I might have gotten a bit worried ;)

I like the blue effect. Makes it more wintery....

I did have a play with it, thinking reducing blue would be easy. I got some interesting colours, but nothing of an improvement.
I think they might just stay as they are :)

Tell me about it
Believe me the earlier in the day you start , the worse it is
It's made worse by blue skies. Before the sun gets high , the majority of light comes from the blue sky and the snow picks it up.

This would have been the case with these. Being a forest on the edge of a hill, not much direct sunlight was getting to it - I think the sky was reflecting the light down.
I'm glad I didn't get up at the crack of dawn though. Because of the landscape around here there wasn't really any decent light where I was until about 11 o'clock
