I'm sure Dave will know what type it is.....but I've never seen so many together as I did today (rspb place near A1/M62 junction)

Super shot Adrian! Using the Sigma 105mm I presume?
That's a Gatekeeper - Pyronia tithonus, also sometimes known as the Hedge Brown. Very similar to the Meadow Brown - which only has one white dot on the wing spot.
I haven't seen many this year yet but they were very common round here later in the summer last year.

Lovely shot Adrian, I have just got a Sigma 105mm, hope I can get some good pics like that.

My garden is full of them at the moment. But i did'nt know what it was called.
Fantastic Pic Adrian....I adore butterflies but only get 1 white one and a red admiral that don't even stop....they just flutter about then bugger off :?
