Red Bellied Woodpecker

Discussion in 'Flora & fauna' started by gfitzgerald, Jan 10, 2020.

  1. Didn't manage to get a good shot on a tree as he was interested in the sunflower seed. It was quite funny watching him hanging this way and that trying to get a meal there.

You can get a real good look at it zooming in and then zooming again on Flickr. Certainly can see why they call it a Red Bellied

  2. Looks really comical hanging there almost as if the muscles are not strong enough to heave himself onto the feeder :)

    Stansgang Keep it straight!

Nice sharp eye and the feed gives an indication of the birds size.

I like that - it's just a little exotic for us here and very nicely taken.
  5. Thanks everyone. Yes, they are a good sized bird. If I could keep the squirrels out of the peanut butter maybe it would come around more often and could get a tree limb shot.
  6. Nice and crisp, and benefits from the inclusion of the feeder.
  7. The feeder isn't a problem as you have a lovely background. Great shot of a fascinating bird :)
